Nathan Fillion Confirmed as New Character to Play The Rookie Season 5
Created by Alexi Hawley for ABC, the series stars the ever-charming and likable Fillion of Firefly fame.
The premise is inspired by real-life LAPD officer William Norcross, who moved to Los Angeles in 2015 and became a police officer in his mid-forties.
The Rookie was renewed for a season 5, which is expected to premiere in September of 2022
Fillion spoke about his character becomes a training officer who is charged with training a new rookie
The newcomer's casting hasn't been revealed yet, but Fillion let it slip that it's a woman.
Fillion's Nolan is trained by a woman. However, this is more than fans have previously known, and it sets up an interesting dynamic for the upcoming season
An older, male officer and a young woman working together could set up lots of conflict and misunderstandings that will drive the show moving forward
Regardless, it would certainly be interesting to see Nolan in a teaching role
A female newcomer joining the cast will add something new and different, hopefully reviving the series to last for more seasons.
