Shawn Mendes announced on Wednesday that he is canceling his entire world tour
Mendes wrote in Instagram, "I started this tour excited to finally get back to playing live after a long break due to the pandemic"
He also added, " In reality, I was not at all ready for how difficult touring would be after this time away"
"After speaking with my team and health professionals, it has become clear that I need to take the time, to ground myself and come back stronger," he wrote.
"My health is my number one priority," Mendes, 23, said.
"It doesn't mean I won't make new music, I just can't wait to see you on tour in the future," he stressed.
"I know you all have been waiting so long to see these shows, but I promise that I will be back as soon as I've taken the right time to heal," Mendes wrote.
Mendes has been outspoken about mental health in the past through his music and past social media posts
"The truth is that even with so much success I still find it hard not to feel like I'm failing," Mendes wrote
