Who is Hunter Moore? Netflix documentary delves into the downfall of 'the most hated man on the internet'

Netflix's new three-part documentary chronicles the downfall of a recklessly evil webmaster who provided an adult site with nude photos of non-consensual subjects.

The docuseries (streaming now) features the victims of the short-lived IsAnyoneUp.com and those who managed to stop Moore's efforts

The website - active from 2010 to 2012 - displays images submitted by subjects, their predecessors, or via hacking.

The site also includes personal information about the images, including social media accounts

Absent legislation to combat "revenge porn," Section 230 of the Communications Decency Act provided Moore some protection

As the site's content is generated by users and not the site itself

Moore, a 36-year-old Northern California native, predicted big success in his 20s

He told Rolling Stone writer Alex Morris, in a 2012 profile titled "Hunter Moore: The Most Hated Man on the Internet"

“If somebody killed themselves over that? Do you know how much money I’d make?" Moore said

"At the end of the day, I don't want anyone to hurt themselves. But if they do? Thanks for the money... If I get more traffic that day, I get paid."

At the end, Moore was sentenced to 30 months in prison and a $2000 fine

Moore was released from a Beaumont, Texas, prison in 2017 after his sentence was reduced by participating in a residential drug abuse program.
