'American Pie' singer Don McLean reveals the true meaning of his 50-year-old song
"American Pie" singer Don McLean has been singing his classics for the past 50 years.
McLean received the compliment from country music legend Garth Brooks
McLean featured in the new documentary "The Day the Music Died: The Story of Don McLean's 'American Pie."
"McLean said 'American Pie' was one of the greatest songs in the history of music," McLean shared
He feels that the song parallels his career and life in music, and the song somehow brought him to it
"You know, I think the documentary would be as interesting as the song. I've wanted to talk about the lyrics for 50 years, and I'm going to do it in a real way," McLean said.
"Well, I'm proud, and I think my family is proud. I think my father and mother, or maybe my mother, were very proud." McLean said
Mclean said, "I don't think most music introduces anybody to anything like that. That's what makes ‘American Pie’ unique and amazing."
He Also added, "I'm delighted, you know, that makes my life worthwhile. I'm happy I did. You have to start with an interest in something before you start really, you know, get pretty get going."
