Dave Chappelle Will Smith Slap
Comedy legend Dave Chappelle claimed that when Will Smith slapped Chris Rock at the Oscars earlier this year, his “mask” slipped off, exposing something repulsive underneath. Hopes the mask stays off, he added.
During a recent appearance with Rock in Liverpool, Chappelle reportedly said, “A lot of people forget who Will Smith is.” He emphasized to the audience the actor’s tough upbringing in Philadelphia.
Then, Chappelle added, “he pretended to be back in Philadelphia 10 minutes before he was going to receive the biggest honor.”
He continued:
“Will did the impression of a perfect person for 30 years, and he ripped his mask off and showed us he was as ugly as the rest of us. Whatever the consequences are… I hope he doesn’t put his mask back on again and lets his real face breathe.”
In both men, I see myself, Chappelle said.
A little more than a month after the Oscars, Chappelle was attacked live on stage. Rock attended the event.
What about Will Smith? Rock was broken.
Days later, Rock and Chappelle both made light of their assaults while performing in a small club in Los Angeles.
